 Theresa Portwood, Office Manager
Theresa has been in the field of optometry for over 30 years beginning in a one-doctor one assistant office. She holds a B.S. from the University of Wyoming with a major in Home Economics Education. After fourteen years in education, she decided to pursue the business aspects of an optometric practice. Among her many duties which include working with patients and staff, she is involved with both the internal and external marketing programs. Maintenance of this website is included in her duties.
 Debbie Morley, CPO, Insurance Consultant
Debbie began working as a receptionist in the office in 1990. For the pastseveral years, she has specialized in the handling of Medicare and co-management of cataract and lasik surgery. Debbie handles all the paperwork and scheduling for the surgery procedures, as well as the day-to-day posting and ordering. In April 2005, Debbie passed a written examination to be a Certified Paraoptometric.
 Angela, CPOT, Optometric Technician
Angela completed the practical and written examination in June 2003 to be a Certified Paraoptometric Technician. Our office has employed Angela since 1992. As an optometric technician she does pretesting on all patients, as well as, instructing and educating contact lens patients. The "tech" team includes Angela and two other trained technicians to complete the many duties in that department. She holds a B.S. in Financial Management from the University of Montana and has decided that optometry is much more interesting.
 Sheila, CPOA, ABOC, Frame & Lens Consultant
Sheila has been employed by our office since 1994 as a frame consultant working with the team of two others in that department. Her background is in retail with a B.A. in Marketing from Montana State University. To find her in our office just ask for 'the tall one'. Sheila successfully passed a written examination in August 2003 to become a Certified Paraoptometric. In April 2005, Sheila became a Certified Paraoptometric Assistant when she passed the written examination. In September 2008, she successfully passed an examination forf her ABOC.
 Connie, ABOC, NCLEC, Frame & Lens Consultant
Connie joined our staff in September 2006 when she moved to Elko from Arizona. She came to us with eight years of experience in two other optometric practices. She holds a BA from the University of Nevada, Reno in International Politics with a dual minor in Economics and Journalism. She spent several years in Japan prior to moving to Arizona.
 Sandra, Receptionist
Sandra is usually busy checking in patients, answering phones, making appointments and notifying the appropriate staff of the arrival of patients. She joined our staff in the fall of 2007 bringing experience from the insurance and banking industry. If she has a few extra minutes she may think of a funny story to tell. Recently she creatively provided our office with some "fun" seasonal decorations.
 Amber, CPO, Optometric Technician
Amber joined our tech team in early 2008. She attended Fayetteville Community College in North Carolina majoring in nursing. In the spring of 2009, she successfully passed her CPO examination to become a Certified Para-optometric technician. Prior to joining our practice she worked for a major jewelry retailer in sales.
 Karen, Receptionist
Karen initially started in our tech department in April 2008. A few months later, she joined the receptionists and assumed those duties. Karen attended the Career College of Northern Nevada and Truckee Meadows Community College. She brought experience in customer service , sales and management to our practice. Her organization skills are exceptional which has been very helpful to our practice.
 Lindsey, CPO, Optometric Technician
Lindsey became part of the tech team in July 2009. She attended Great Basin College. Her experience in the work force includes employment at a medical office and a gym, as well as experience in sales. She recently passed the test to become a Certified Para-optometric technician.
 Teresa, (T J) ,Receptionist
Teresa (TJ) joined us in June 2010 right after graduation from Elko High School. She will be attending Great Basin College this fall to major in business. When she is not in class she can be found helping out in the reception area including translating Spanish for us as she is bilinqual.
